Farmingdale, Massapequa, Amityville, Lindenhurst and Babylon sit right where the sewer map stops being simple. Parts of these towns are sewered and parts are still on cesspools, and it is common for two houses on the same street to be on different systems entirely.

That matters the moment something backs up, because the fix is completely different. We camera first rather than guessing, and if it is a cesspool at the end of its life we will say so plainly — Suffolk County has run grant programs to help with replacement, and it is worth asking about before you spend anything.

The water table is high down here too. Basements in Lindenhurst and Babylon flood in a way that basements six miles north simply do not, so we spend a lot of time on sump pumps, check valves and backup batteries in these five towns.
